Sorry for the delay; real life, as always.

No acceptance speeches because, sadly, none of the nominees could be here. Unless, that is, they are lurking in the comments... (insert winning grin here).

And the Academy Award - or whatever - goes to... )

And there it is. HBP Uberwank - or possibly something else along the same lines, depending on various factors I'm not going to talk about yet - coming in late summer. In the meantime I may post porn; consider yourself warned.

Ahem. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the first annual Uberwank Awards!

Uh, yeah, here's how it works. Under the cut are a bunch of awards, each with an appropriate number of nominees. In each category, just vote for the one you think ought to win. If you can't figure out what a particular question is getting at, just... pick your favourite, I guess. :D

Anyone can vote, so please do! Vote! Vote! Vote!

And the nominees are... )

So.

Here we are.

OK, so honestly, posting this feels weird. This book came out almost a year ago now, and in that time it seems that the majority of people have moved on and just plain got over DH being a bit shoddy at times, and said, "Yeah, the epilogue sucked, so what? I'm just going to disregard it". Whereas here I am, like the sole existing member of an otherwise defunct cult, standing in a town centre with my sandwich board and megaphone, bellowing about how the CIA had Princess Diana assassinated or some shit. In short, this whole chapter just feels like old meme, and maybe I should just STFU, you know?

... Not that I'm going to STFU, you understand. Heh.

Be warned, though. If you thought the previous chapters were wanky... well, this is another one that brings in conversation analysis, put it that way.

And so we go
On with our lives
We know the truth
But prefer lies
Lies are simple
Simple is bliss
Why go against tradition when we can
Admit defeat?

This'll have to do. If all else fails, appropriate icon is appropriate.

"By the way, Harry, now that I'm utterly dead, it seems a good time to tell you that I was quite the arse-bandit in my youth. Do stop feeling compassion for that wretched flayed child under your seat." - [info]air_and_angels, here

So there's this line in The Princess Bride about how death cannot stop true love. That's true, I guess, but what's even more true is this: even death cannot get in the way of the unstoppable force that is Dumbledore's Final Thought! )

PRINCESS LEIA: Luke, tell me. What's troubling you?
LUKE: Vader is here, now, on this moon.
PRINCESS LEIA: How do you know?
LUKE: I felt his presence. He's come for me. He can feel when I'm near. That's why I have to go. As long as I stay, I'm endangering the group and our mission here. I have to face him.

- Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

THE EMPEROR: Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design. Your friends, up there on the sanctuary moon, are walking into a trap, as is your Rebel fleet. It was I who allowed the Alliance to know the location of the shield generator. It is quite safe from your pitiful little band. An entire legion of my best troops awaits them. Oh, I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive.

This one isn't a rickroll.

THE EMPEROR: Rise, my friend.
DARTH VADER: The Death Star will be completed on schedule.
THE EMPEROR: You've done well, Lord Vader. And now I sense you wish to continue your search for young Skywalker.
DARTH VADER: Yes, my Master.
THE EMPEROR: Patience, my friend. In time, he will seek you out, and when he does, you must bring him before me. He has grown strong. Only together can we turn him to the Dark Side of the Force.
DARTH VADER: As you wish.
THE EMPEROR: Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.

LANDO CALRISSIAN: [Seeing the Death Star is operational] Home One, this is Gold Leader.
ADMIRAL ACKBAR: We saw it. All craft, prepare to retreat.
LANDO CALRISSIAN: We won't get another chance at this, Admiral.
ADMIRAL ACKBAR: We have no choice, General Calrissian! Our cruisers can't repel firepower of that magnitude!
LANDO CALRISSIAN: Han will have that shield down. We've got to give him more time!

Updaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate )

Just FYI, I am moving house at the weekend so I don't know when the next chapter will be up - hell, I don't even know where my copy of DH is right now. Fear not, though - it is coming, I just don't know when yet.

As always, sorry this one took so long. Writing it felt all rusty and slow, and I'm still not happy that it's any good. Meh! I had much more luck with chapter 25, which will arrive sooner than this did.

Oy vey. )

It sort of happened again. This one's got Harry/Draco in it. Bad, melodramatic, unbeta'd Harry/Draco. It's not as porny as the handjob of chapter 19, but it's there. Also, I fully expect to have failed the assignment I should have been doing instead of writing it.

Long chapter is long. )

Argh. I know I promised more updates over Christmas, and they didn't happen - I suck. I promise there will be more soon.

Anyway.

Uuurgh. OK, I think I probably owe an apology for the delay on this one, but! It was not my fault. You see, there are a bunch on paragraphs in it which go into basic semiotics, and I sent them to my dad for beta-ing, given that he is (well, was) an ethnomethodologist and therefore in a position to check my facts and provide critique. But he was too busy, apparently, and I waited and waited and kept thinking, oh, I'll just wait one more day, but no dice, so I'm going to go ahead and just post anyway. Therefore, if you happen to know your semiotics and spot any glaring errors, please direct your comments to:

Guuuuh. Honestly, also, I struggled over this chapter for ages and I think it's boring and ranty and not interesting and also I am generally a bit nervous because, frankly, my academic interests and scepticism are showing like woh and I am paranoid that I am going to offend someone with all my ranting and... oh fuck it. Here it is, ignore at your leisure. I'll work extra hard and try and get a few more parts out over Christmas and New Year, and make sure they're actually entertaining, to make up for it. Please be nice.

Ahem.

CHANCELLOR PALPATINE: Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
ANAKIN SKYWALKER: No.
CHANCELLOR PALPATINE: I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.
ANAKIN SKYWALKER: He could actually save people from death?

Once again, sorry for the delay on this. I will be completely honest: this chapter, and the seven million or so chapters that follow it, are massively dull, and motivating myself to fanwank about them is at times difficult. Blame JKR.

You are about to view content that may not be appropriate for anyone with a modicum of intelligence. )
